The Story Behind the 1908 Grand Gainesvile Wedding Shoot
When Will and Dailyn were married 5 years ago, their dream wedding never happened because of covid 19 restrictions. Will never saw Dailyn in her wedding dress and didn't want to see pictures of the dress, because he wanted to see his bride in her dress. Dailyn shared this with Soly, Monique and Myself one Sunday mornign and so we started to plan their "First Look" five years later. We created the perfect 1908 Grand Gainesville Wedding First Look Shoot.
Mocha Tones & Old-Money Glamour
The inspiration for this shoot was rooted in mocha tones paired with timeless neutrals—ivory, blush, and soft golden accents. Soly Schrack and Monique from Schrack and Co. Events created a palette that felt both romantic and refined, the kind of elegance you’d expect from an old-money gathering layered with fine art details.
From the bride’s gown with its delicate fabric movement to the groom’s tailored look, every styling choice spoke of heritage and luxury.
Florals brought the vision to life: lush arrangements in muted blush and cream, grounded with warm mocha hues. The textures—silky ribbons, vintage glassware, hand-torn stationery—layered seamlessly to create an atmosphere that was both welcoming and elevated.
This thoughtful combination of colors and textures created a cohesive editorial story—where every detail complemented the couple’s love story and the historic charm of the venue itself.
The Venue – The 1908 Grand in Gainesville
Located in the heart of Gainesville, The 1908 Grand is a venue steeped in history and overflowing with charm. Originally built as a Masonic lodge in 1908, it has been lovingly restored into one of North Florida’s most distinctive event spaces. With its soaring ceilings, vintage chandeliers, and original hardwood floors, the space carries an undeniable sense of elegance and legacy.
What makes The 1908 Grand truly remarkable for weddings is its natural light and architectural details. The tall vintage windows flood the ballroom with soft, glowing light, creating the perfect canvas for fine art wedding photography. Ornate staircases, grand entryways, and the romantic outdoor courtyard offer endless backdrops for portraits and intimate moments alike.
For this styled shoot, the venue’s balance of historic richness and modern refinement was the perfect match. Every corner told a story—whether it was the bride framed by sunlit windows, or the couple sharing a quiet moment beneath crystal chandeliers. The venue’s versatility allowed the editorial vision to unfold seamlessly, proving why The 1908 Grand is a dream for couples who want their celebration to feel both timeless and visually breathtaking.

Favorite First Look Moments
After years of waiting, the first look finally happened—and it was everything and more. In the quiet of The 1908 Grand, with sunlight streaming through vintage windows, the anticipation in the air was almost tangible.
The groom’s expression softened the moment he saw his bride, every ounce of waiting and longing melting into joy. She, in turn, carried the radiant glow of a bride stepping into a moment she had dreamed about for years. There were tears, laughter, and the kind of embraces that hold stories within them—moments that can’t be posed, only witnessed and preserved.
Photographing this first look was a reminder of why it is such a powerful tradition. Beyond the romance, it gave the couple space to breathe, connect, and simply be together before the rush of the day. At a venue as timeless as The 1908 Grand, their first look felt less like a staged moment and more like a page from their love story finally written.
